I entered Hong Kong as my residential address, a domestic Chinese address as my work address, a domestic Chinese tax number, my ID card number, and a UK phone number.
2. Phone Follow-Up
My application was not approved directly. I received a follow-up call, around 4 p.m., and was asked the following questions:
- Verify my email address and birthday
- Explain why my residential address and work address were different
- Purpose of account opening ……
The signal was bad during the call and it disconnected, so I do not know whether there were other questions. Two days later, the account was opened successfully.
3. Updates
After the application review is approved, you can add the virtual card directly to Apple Pay in the HSBC AU app without waiting for the physical card.
Update on 2023-08-08: This avoids the forwarding process and makes card opening truly cost-free. If you filled in two addresses, one of which is a domestic Chinese address, you can contact customer service to issue a new card and send it to the domestic address by DHL.
On August 15, the card was received. It was sent by DHL and took exactly one week from Australia to China.
